Our History...
YPM was founded on the 16th of February 2007 by local resident of Clapham Ms. Kemi Folarin after the fatal deaths of many young people. Kemi decided to pursue her desire to bring about change in the midst of the unhealthy social conditions present in South London and so, rather than talking about these tragedies she decided to create YPM which stands for its literal meaning-Young People Matter.
Young People Matter is made up of a team of 14 young adults who all have the common goal to educate, support, guide and influence young people to strive for and steer their life in a positive direction. As a team we aim to deter young people from making negative choices and by doing this we consult them about issues that directly concern them. These issues are worked on through workshops, activities, one-on-one tutorials, mentoring and group seminars. We provide the necessary tools for effective delivery and employ educated, skilled and experienced young adults who use their expertise and knowledge to reach the young people we work with.
We believe that every young person matters and by helping them unlock their full potential we are bringing hope to the next generation. With this as our mission and goal we plan to succeed with the aspiration of reaching as many young people as we possibly can.
