Streetwise Project: 2011

30 09.11

We are delighted to announce that the ‘Streetwise’ project got funding from lottery last month (July 2011). So we started our project in August with our resident Artist Madhumita Bose.

The project is about exploring issues of community safety in our area/borough. The artist is engaging all our young people in this very timely issue. At this moment the young participants are consulted about the project’s outcomes e.g. what they like to do in order to express their views, concerns and solution about street crime etc. So far the participants wanted to do paintings, cartoon drawing, street art reflecting various issues on the streets. Very soon we will be doing creative workshops at our centre using those medium e.g. paintings, drawing, installation etc. and capturing our young people’s views.

Later on (Dec 2011/Jan 2012), we shall organise an exhibition in a local gallery/library where all these artworks will be shown. We shall also produce a series of posters/leaflets and distribute in local centres, schools etc. to do an ongoing campaign against street crime/violence.

If you want to join in this project please get in touch by email/Facebook.
You can also participate by sending your views/slogan/poems/words/drawings/paintings etc. against street crime campaign. Your contribution are very welcome and will be incorporated and acknowledged in the exhibition and publicity.
